There has been a court on the site since 1595.
Owned by Merton College, the court was constructed in 1798 The floor and walls were refashioned by Joseph Bickley in 1912. The Court was last refurbished in 2002 and the new club house rooms were created in 1997.
The first men's Varsity Match was held in 1859.
The women's Varsity Match was first held in 1990.
The Matches are now played annually together at Lord's.
The Second team matches are held every year alternating at Oxford and Cambridge.
The Oxford court is the only active tennis court in Oxford today. Former courts were located at: Oriel College (c.1572), Queen's College and Lincoln College.
